One man, ??? wives?

Who remembers the kids next door who had more than one mother? Did we feel somewhat superior to them? We had been taught that polgamy was wrong and yet, I do not know what my grandfathers would say about these people.

Like so many people say, while things change, they remain the same.

Happy Sunday everyone

Check out Muhammad who I came to know about thanks to Nakeel. He shares his feelings on polygamy from a Muslim perspective. You should also read his wife's blog where she gives her perspective. Her blog title should tell you right away what she thinks of it all! Very interesting.

Ah, my paternal grand daddy had his 3 wives and plenty children. My maternal grand daddy was a one-woman man.

Happy weekend to you as well. I'm gearing up for the 3 days off work thanks to the US labour day on Monday!

The article at that link gives a whole lot of food for thought. At first I was tempted to LOL at "it's a religious belief", but then I thought - when they add religion to the mix it becomes difficult to argue against the practice rationally. For them, it just is.
Each to his own way, I guess, for me I'd never share, and unlike Muhammad's wife above, 'polygamy lover' is a title I would never aspire towards - polygamy complicates life a little too much!

There was a documentary on that Jeffs character on Channel 4 recently - very scary.

In my view, polygamy should only be allowed if women could also have multiple husbands:)

People will believe what they will and if they want to marry whatever number of wives, so be it. As long as everyone in the union is a consenting adult, why not?
I respect what other people believe. Its a little thing called tolerance.

now what would grandfathers say about this one now ... the world is too confused for them to say anything, let alone comprehend ... though on ktn one time this old dude said the best thing about polygamy is that when one wife was angry with you, you could always seek solace in the loving hands of the other

African tradition dictated that a mother is responsible for all the children in her neigbourhood. if one mother would pass.. the children will be embraced by the community. that now has drifted and whats worse, we're dying younger.

Sometimes I do have more than one wife depending on how my wife is feeling when she wakes up. :)

Otherwise, I like the idea of one wife. More than one would shorten my lifespan. Great post, ausi!
